Student Pilot
I just received my EVO-XPH Helmet today and I have to say I love it! I'm currently just a student pilot and this is my first flight helmet, so I'm no expert, but it feels sturdy and strong, but I was also surprised just how light the helmet is. I feel like I would have no problems wearing this for hours on end. I wish I had some way to power up and test the electronics, but I'm currently grounded from flight at the moment due to just too much work =,( but considering its David Clark electronics, its quality is not in question in my mind lol. So far I've made it sound like the helmet is just perfect, and if I'm being 100% honest I was a little disappointed that the sliding knob that pulls one of the lenses down wasn't really fitted 100% perfect and my first few times working the mechanism actually scraped the edges of the cut-out of the lens protector that the knob travels down, but now that some of the material has been scraped off the mechanism works quite smoothly! I don't really let this affect my 5 star rating of this helmet because I was advised that the XPH is more of a "fleet" or "renter" helmet and is designed to be much cheaper and little less quality than the more expensive helmets, which suited me fine since I will only be using the helmet for recreational flying so for me the added dollar savings was worth a little reduced quality. So I would imagine if you had to have the absolute top of the line 100% perfect helmet, you would be better served with one of the higher tier helmets. But if you're like me and are only expecting an easier to budget light to moderate use helmet, then this puppy fits the bill! No regrets here! Helmet FX has also been a wonderful retailer to deal with, Mark Keller always answered my emails in a timely manner and was constantly just super helpful with whatever I needed. I was worried that I hadn't explained the custom paint scheme I wanted with my helmet well enough, but all doubt was cast aside when it was delivered. The paint job exceeded all of my expectations and was 110% worth every penny! Although I hope this helmet to last me for many years to come, but Helmet FX will be the only place I go to for any other needs I have in the future!
